The Haven Holiday Cottage

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Crabtree and Crabtree have delivered again - a very comfortable property with a warm welcome from the local hosts (the freshly baked loaf was very much appreciated).

The Haven is a very comfortable and charming cottage, in a great location - ideal for a few days away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Thanks again to Sally and Martin.

A wonderful few days in a beautiful cottage! Great location to explore. The coastline is stunning and we've loved walking on beaches and discovering castles. Had a fabulous day in Edinburgh too. 

The Haven has been perfect, from the lovely homemade bread to the welcome log burner on cold evenings. We will certainly be back . . .!!

Thank you both so much for a lovely relaxing place to stay. It was a pleasure to return here every evening after our travels in wonderful countryside and walks on beautiful unspoilt beaches. We really appreciated the attention to detail and the welcome treats ! A special place to relax and recharge . . . .

This is a lovely cottage, with everything needed, but no clutter. Northumbria is beautiful with mini mountains, stunning beaches and quiet countryside. 

Without doubt, this is one of the loveliest holiday cottages we have ever stayed in. A hidden gem off the Northumberland beaten track - no noise, no light pollution, no traffic - unbeatable. And then the cottage itself - lovely bedlinen, fluffy towels (and no end of hot water - fantastic ! ) , a really well equipped kitchen and ALL matching cutlery (another rarity ), and the best wood burning stove in the universe. We have had a fabulous week here, kicked off with warm bread, home made jam, fruit, milk and a very decent Merlot. Thank you for making The Haven a perfect holiday home ..... now back to tasks (and work) with a bump !

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Haven. It is a beautiful property in a stunning area with lots to see and do. You couldn't have made the cottage more welcoming and comfortable for us, it had everything anyone would need (the attention to detail was just fantastic! ) Thanks also for the delicious home made bread and jam included in the Welcome Pack (very nice touches). Loved the artwork and will be checking out the photographer's work when I return to Hong Kong. It was great to meet the owner who took us through some of the things to help settle in - much appreciated. Really want to return to this part of Northumberland and now I know of the place to stay I wouldn't hesitate to come back again and will be recommending it to my friends. An immaculate and unique property.

We have spent a lovely week enjoying The Haven and the splendid environs. Having done self catering for 25+ years, I have to say that the attention to detail, the decor, furnishings and equipment make this one of our favourites. Thank you for the warm welcome, the lovely fresh bread and jam and the two bike rides - I almost felt like one of the 'locals' ! We hope to be back next year.

Had a lovely peaceful and relaxing holiday. Cottage lovely and very comfortable. The gift of homemade bread and jam was just wonderful and the individual toiletries a lovely touch.

We had a wonderful week staying at this lovely property. There is so much to see and do, we need to comeback! As ever Bamburgh beach, castle and village are beautiful, whilst going in the other direction we can recommend Floors Castle. Getting to Edinburgh by train is very easy but a tourist trap awaits. As with previous visitors a run / walk to the Stone circle as the sun gets low in the sky is a must. Thank you.

The Haven is indeed a haven. Very comfortable, clean, quiet and ideal for us. we just needed to relax. The bread, jam etc is a very nice touch as was the personal visit from the hosts. Thankyou.

Had a lovely time at the Haven - very nicely fitted out and in character. Plenty of attention to detail and I liked the welcoming touch of a home made loaf and provisions. I look forward to staying there next year on my holiday.

We had a wonderful stay ! It was just what we were looking for and an amazing find from across the "pond". We will make sure to encourage our friends and family to have a visit and we hope to have the chance to be back one day. You have a beautiful area.  

Wow ! The Haven is an amazing place to stay ! The cottage is beautifully furnished and so well equipped. the fresh bread and homemade jam is a really lovely welcome! Many thanks to the hosts who looked after us extremely well. The area is just filled with lots of things to do. Lovely villages, Etal etc, down to Alnwick. Great beaches to visit and many lovely places to eat. we will be highly recommending this place to anyone visiting the area.

The Haven is a perfect base for visiting the local area, with most attractions being within a 15 to 20 mile radius. Wonderfully clean and appointed 'Haven' !! An extra bonus was the ever so kind hosts and their being on hand to advise of cycle routes in the area. we enjoyed taking the bikes to Kielder, Berwick and Duns.

Places of interest well worth a visit: Wallington House and Cragside, Floors Castle (Kelso),Edinburgh Castle, most Northumbria beaches, Kielder Forest, Ford and Etal, Hay Farm Shire Horse sanctuary

Had a fabulous week here. The weather has been very kind to us, fantastic trip to the Farne Islands. Flodden Field was amazing in the sunshine with the world's smallest visitor centre in Branxton! Beautiful countryside and soooo peaceful! The Red Lion at Milfield serves fab food and we stayed for the quiz night on Wednesday which was great fun. The Haven really lives up to its name, spotlessly clean with everything you need. Thanks again for the Welcome Pack -much appreciated. Must just mention (if you're into bird watching) St Abbs Head is a must see.

Beautiful week - lovely accommodation. Had a few great bike rides, routes on quiet roads and variety of coast, hills and culture.

We have enjoyed our stay at The Haven and in Northumberland. We enjoyed trips to Eyemouth, Bamburgh and Alnwick and can recommend Gunsgreen (Eyemouth), Bamburgh Beach and Norham Castle for anyone visiting with a 5 year old !

The Haven was a perfect place to rest after a day out exploring and who doesn't like snuggling in front of a log fire. The fresh bread and homemade jam on arrival was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. The owners made us feel very welcome and were available if we needed anything. We have had a wonderful time in Northumberland and managed to see a lot of the beautiful coastline on this side of the UK. The weather has been mostly kind although except for a couple of very starry nights it was cloudy in the evenings but enjoyed good dry weather when it really mattered. The Haven is very comfortable with every amenity you need for a great stay and the homemade jam and bread was a lovely touch. We hope to visit this area again in the future.

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay in The Haven. the house is tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and has everything you'd ever need. We had our two year old daughter with us and the house was well prepared for us including a stair gate and toddler side table and chair. The bread, jam and honey that the owners provided was a nice touch and the fire was lit when we arrived! The owners were very responsive and helped us when ever we needed help. The local area is beautiful and you could get lost exploring it. We'll definitely be back!
